Security Supervisor

POSITION TITLE:               Security Supervisor

REPORTS TO:                    Security Manager/Director

CLASSIFICATION:             Exempt

Position Summary:

Under the directions of the Manager and higher-ranking officials, the Security Supervisor performs all levels of Security supervisory management and exercising essential daily Security operations.  This position requires supervisory skills whether the purpose is to prod, praise, persuade or reprimand, also, to promote a work atmosphere of respect, loyalty and cooperation.

NOTE: Native American preference will be given

Duties & Responsibilities:

Requirements for Supervisor Level are a combination of all levels of Security personnel including the following:

  • Personnel management, computer and communication skills
  • Knowledgeable of Internal Controls, Security’s Policies and procedures, Gaming and interdepartmental policies and procedures
  • Knowledgeable in and practice de-escalation techniques in all situations with guests
  • Deliver excellent customer service using the Tesuque Proud Guest Service Standards
  • Be consistent in enforcing rules and regulations
  • Knowledgeable of all Casino games, promotions and other Casino related events
  • Pass Security exam/ score of 90% or higher
  • Conduct work performance appraisals/interviews and make recommendations for advancement
  • Maintains shift personnel files regarding, work history, absences and submittal of PA forms for vacation, sick or personal leave
  • Initiates post scheduling and delegating responsibilities among Security Office
  • Adhere to department/company policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications:

  • GED or high school diploma preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, communication, team building and problem solving skills required.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
  • Bi-cultural experience preferred
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen

NOTE: Native American preference will be given

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:

  • Principles of Security functions and operations.
  • Must have prior Security experience of three (3) years or more.
  • Must be knowledgeable of all Casino games, Casino’s internal controls, Security’s policies and procedures,
  • Gaming and interdepartmental policies and procedures.
  • Must initiate supervisory and management work requiring independent judgment, training and interpreting company policies & procedures.
  • Must have experience in computer, word processing and report writing skills
  • Must possess good management and decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to manage a multitude of projects and responsibilities in a high stress environment
  • Skill in interpersonal and customer relations.
  • Ability to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to communicate, read, and writes clearly in Basic English.
  • Ability to demonstrate outstanding guest service at all times.

Communication Skills:

Using the primary language identified as English, the following are required:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, policies and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Bilingual a plus; at a minimum, the ability to understand and be understood to all Spanish speaking individuals.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand and walk for extended periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in an office and Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level.  Evenings, weekends, holidays, extended hours and irregular shifts will be required.
